Belly Up to the Bar!

Updated: Jun 7, 2023

A designated bar area makes it easier to entertain at home. It's nice to have a place outside of your kitchen to hold your bottles, cute glasses, fancy sparkling waters, and other cocktail (or mocktail) mixers. While some people are lucky enough to have built-in wet bars, many of us need to come up with other solutions.

Wall Hung Bar Shelves

This is an affordable and space-saving option that also doubles as wall art! Here are three different styles for your glam, rustic, or modern home.

Left to right: The Mayfair Wine Glass Shelf from Anthropologie; the Finley Wall Bar from Etsy seller Barsoutdoors; the Hide and Seek Storage Shelf from CB2.

Bar Carts (Vintage)

Bar carts are also fairly affordable and don't take up too much space. Since these carts have been around for decades, it's pretty easy to buy cool pre-loved ones. I found all three of these vintage bar carts on my local Facebook Marketplace today!

Bar Carts (New)

If you prefer a brand-new bar cart, there are many great options available to fit any room style or size.

Left to right: Tiered Bar Console from West Elm; Sienna Rattan 2-Tiered Bar Cart from World Market; and the more petite Bellwood Bar Cart from West Elm.

Bar Cabinets

If you have more space (and a bigger budget), buy (or make) a bar cabinet to show off your entire bar collection.

Left to right: Fern Bar Cabinet from Anthropologie; Ceron Marble Top Bar Cabinet from World Market; and a DIY cocktail cabinet that was converted from a bookshelf! (tutorial here)

The Ultimate: Free-standing Bar and Stool Sets

I've always imagined having a cool basement lounge complete with a freestanding bar. This vintage Paul Frankl handmade tiki bar from the 1950's that was listed in my local Facebook Marketplace is exactly what I have in mind.

Keep your eyes open for these at estate sales and flea markets too!

Cheers to finding the bar that's just right for your space!
